GIVEAWAY & Review (Book) Cooper, Me and the Military

We love to read in our home! Even though we don't know someone directly who is away in the military, we do have friends with loved ones that are. This book provided us with the opportunity to have a great discussion about having empathic feelings. There are also some great coloring and activity sheets to go along with the Cooper and Me series. And for those that are interested, there is a FREE music download of the Cooper & Me available to everyone!

I thought this was a nice book to introduce to kids who may have friends with family in the military to help them understand a little bit about what is going on. Kids who have family in the military may be able to relate to some of the book. Cooper and his human companion (Me) meet their friends Gracie & Joe at a park with their dog Trooper (Cooper's best friend) and the book tells you the story of how Gracie & Joe came to be pet owners to Trooper after he was no longer able to serve in the military with their parents. The book ends with all three children sending a package with letters to the parents of Gracie & Joe and encouraging kids to write their own letter to servicemen and gives a sample letter with blanks to fill in and a website with information about sending letter. The book also includes questions to ask your child to see what kind of connections they are making with the book and their comprehension. I liked how the book included those extra pieces that take the experience beyond just reading to them.

I was gifted with a copy of this book for the purpose of review. No other compensation was received. All views and opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by the author, publisher or marketing company.
