GIVEAWAY and Review: RAD Zoo Family 4-pack of Passes

It seems so long ago already that I shared with you pictures from a recent trip to the RAD Zoo in a Wordless Wednesday post. But like I mentioned in that post, we do have a family membership here and go there to visit at least once a month.

I want to share with you, some of the more recent pictures I have taken there, tell you some more information about the zoo, and give my reader a chance to win a Family 4-pack of Passes to the RAD Zoo.
This is a picture of Big Al, who is their resident 12 foot long alligator. He is pretty amazing to see, especially when you realize you probably can't find an alligator of that size anywhere else in Minnesota.

The RAD Zoo is about an hour south of the Minneapolis, even closer if you are coming from the southern suburbs. So, it is definitely withing a reasonable distance for a day trip.

If you are looking for a bigger experience at the zoo, you can also look in to Camping with the Crocs with a group during the Fall, Winter & Spring. Or have your birthday party at the zoo - BOTH of my kids have had a birthday party here and it a lot of fun. The zoo can also come to your birthday party where ever it is located and bring the animals to you.

This snake in the top picture is one that used to belong to Justin Bieber, so if you have a Justin Bieber fan in your home, they may love to come check out the snake that once belonged to him.

This video was created by Channel 4, but you can see myself and my two kids in the video on a visit as well as some of our friends. This was almost two years ago, so when I see this I see how little my kids were and how much they have grown.

RAD Zoo stands for Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo. They have snakes, turtles, lizards, crocodiles, toads, frogs, and salamanders of course, but you can also find some fish, birds, scorpions, tarantulas and more here.

One of the new areas in the zoo is called the "Danger Zone" that houses animals that are considered dangerous, poisonous, carnivorous or scary in some other sort of way. This little blue frog is a Poison Dart Frog (makes me think of the Simpson episode when Homer was licking frogs.)

They also offer a daily "Everglades Encounter" show, but you can also witness a feeding of one of the many animals. On this visit we were able to watch the alligators in the show area be fed mice. You can see the tale hanging out of the mouth of one of him before he scurried off to drag it underwater and eat it.
Many of the times we go we have the opportunity to feed pellets to the turtles or lettuce to the tortoises. Often, an animal may come out for a visit. My son is fond of the tortoises and so on this visit they took one of them out to pet. On other visits we have pet the Bearded Dragon, several kinds of snakes, tortoises, and alligators. When we have had the birthday parties there we have had the opportunity to hold a boa constrictor or snake ourselves.
