Wordless Wednesday: Below Zero Temp Science Experiments

In Minnesota we have had a stretch of negative temperature days in the morning when our average right now should be about 30 degrees. So, it was time to do some fun (and quick) science experiments.

A Fully Inflated Beach Ball BEFORE Going Outside

The Same Beach Ball in -6 Degree Outdoor Temperature

 What Happens After You Bring the Beach Ball In  Teach your kids about what happens to molecule particles when they are warm and cold


Another Fun Experiment Involving Hot Water Being Thrown in -6 Degree Weather Windchill Temp is -17 Degrees. I guess the lesson here is that hot water freezes faster and immediately turns in to frozen ice crystals as some water quickly evaporates off in steam.

    Now that is a neat idea for a science experiment. The girls will enjoy that. Now to get a beach ball. Oh wait. Perhaps it is the wrong time of year. I will be pinning this though!

    I've had that experiment accidently happen with balloons in and out of a car on a cold day!

    How fun! We are going to be blowing colored bubbles in the freezing temps. I think one of my favorite winter things to do is to fill a balloon with food coloring and water {although we did it with paint instead last year}. Put them outside and let them freeze. Then take off the balloon and it looks like pretty colored snowballs. *These are some of the reasons I love winter.*

    That's rad! During the summer out here we like to throw eggs in the air and see if they'll fry before they hit the ground! ;)

    oh gosh!! This had got to be fun-- Im doing it-- just to see my kids faces---I am glad we have the beach ball in the garage with other summer toys-- hope this works--they are going to love this --thanks :-)

    How fun! My parents are dealing with the Minnesota cold right now, which I find especially funny since they lived in Florida until this summer. HUGE CHANGE.
