Here we are from the back of the start. Walkers and rollers were supposed to take up the end. We were rollers, so to the back we must go.
The hubby & I in our costumes. My husband is 6'4, so his gorilla costume was a little short on him, but otherwise fit him pretty well.
Another view from the back, just trying to show you how many people were there.
We bought the kids along with since we had decided to both bike, I figured rather than finding and paying for a sitter I would pull them along in the bike trailer. I thought they would think all the costumes were a hoot.
After showing them the video from last year's race, they wanted to be bananas, but making a banana costume with an hour before we were leaving just wasn't going to happen. So, I went through their costume closet and found a couple of yellow costume and told them they could pretend they were bananas. It worked and they were happy. They just wanted to be dressed up too.
My little banana monkeys! LOL! We didn't think it would be safe for us to bike with our gorilla hands, so we gave them to the kids to wear.
The after party was fun and we all had pulled pork sandwiches, chips, beer, and or course bananas. Love a good after party at a race!
And a band! Can't have a party without music!
Red Bull was a sponsor, and they came around and passed out different flavors of Red Bull to the adults. All racers got a swag bag at the end with some other samples.

They kids were happy to get out of the bike trailer and dance around and chase each other.
Now, I am going to have to buy the book that we will be part of. My husband can now cross something off his bucket list. If you know him you would presume it would be running a race in a gorilla costume, but it's being a part of a World Record.
Ha! That's great! I didn't know anything about it, so where was this, Twin Cities area? Congrats on the record!
