My Thoughts:
Ok, we were already hooked on Veggie Tales in this house. We own several videos and have watched some of the videos available throught our Prime membership. What we weren't hooked on yet was NetFlix. To be honest, my husband has been trying to convince me to try it for YEARS! Many years. And now that Veggie Tales has a new series on NetFlix called Veggie Tales In the House, we decided to try it out and see what this new series is about and what NetFlix has to offer. We're hooked. It's been a week and I found myself wondering we even have cable beyond local channels because NetFlix has everything we need that we don't get from our local channels, including Veggie Tales.
I have watched 3 of the new episodes in this series with my son and as always, their parodies crack me up and I still love how they instill and support already established Christian values in my children. My favorite episode, which totally dates me is about Tom Celreiac (sorry, not sure it is spelled - but you get who the parody is of) joins the Veggies with his infamous mustache which has Bob wanting one too because he thinks it will change his life.
If you don't have NetFlix (yet!), you can call the Veggie Tales Hotline (it's toll-free) and enjoy a variety of interactions with the Veggies Tales. Just call toll-free, 1-844-2-VEGGIES (or, if you’re more numerically inclined, that’s 1-844-283-4443). Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber are manning the phones 24 hours a day, telling jokes, singing songs, sharing Scripture and even providing recipe tips to families all across the U.S.
My son enjoyed the little joke he heard when we called:
Knock-Knock
Who's There?
Carrot Fon
Carrot Fon Who?
No, it's Carrot Fondue!
Show Description from Veggie Tales:
On Nov. 26, VeggieTales, the most popular faith-based children’s entertainment brand, unveils a brand-new Netflix original series for kids, VeggieTales In the House. The all-new series marks the first time in the 21-year history of VeggieTales that Bob, Larry and the veggie crew venture off the countertop for exciting new adventures, while remaining true to the values-driven storytelling that has long made VeggieTales such a beloved part of childhood. The first five 22-minute episodes will be available for Netflix members in the US, Canada, Latin America, UK, Ireland, the Nordics, Benelux and France to watch instantly. “There’s a whole world that’s been right under our noses this whole time, and we can’t wait to see it,” said VeggieTales star Bob the Tomato. Echoed Larry the Cucumber: “The sweet potatoes are so excited, they don’t even know where to starch!”
In VeggieTales In the House, the veggies will take on a new, refreshed look as DreamWorks Animation puts its creative muscle behind the beloved faith-based brand. VeggieTales creator Big Idea became part of DreamWorks in 2012 as part of the studio’s acquisition of Classic Media. “We’re excited to give the beloved VeggieTales a brand new adventure,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content, Netflix. “For many of our 53 million members worldwide, this will be the first time they’ve been introduced to the world’s most entertaining vegetables. We hope many more families become fans of this wholesome preschool series.”
In each 22-minute episode of VeggieTales In the House, two separate 11-minute stories impart important life lessons, designed to please both young viewers and longtime fans of the VeggieTales brand. Every episode also includes brand-new songs and, of course, the famous closing phrase that has been at the heart of VeggieTales from the beginning: “God made you special, and He loves you very much.”
