I enlisted the help of both of my kids in making our own dinosaur bones. We used Crayola Air Dry Clay (I bought it from Michael's Craft Store) and we just began shaping it into our version of what we think various dinosaur bones look like. We let them air dry for 24 hours to make sure they are completely hard. Then I buried them in my son's sand box so that he could go on his own dino dig.
He thought this was pretty neat, both making the dinosaur bones as well as having his own dig. I will caution you that this is air-dry clay. It is basically hard dirt so they can break and are will dissolve in water. My son thought it would be fun to "hide" his bones in his water table and quickly discovered that he had milky colored water and no bones. LOL! He didn't mind though, He thought of it as some interesting discovery he made.
