If you have kids, chances are that they enjoy playing with play dough. And you also know that very quickly those little tubs of color can become a mass of gray and less fun to play with than a variety of colors. I know it only cost about $3 for 4 little tubs of play-doh, but you can get 5 pounds of flour and a whole container of salt for about $2 (that's a lot of play dough!)
Basic Play-dough
1 C water1/2 C salt
food coloring
2 T cooking oil
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 1/2 C white flour
Boil water, stir in salt. Add food coloring and mix. Add cooking oil, cream of tartar & flour and stir with spoon until mixed. Knead dough to finish mixing dough to get a consistent color.
