#ad Review: Greenwald's All-Purpose Citrus Cleaner

My Thoughts:

I had a chance to review Greenwald's All-Purpose Citrus Cleaner for free. No monetary compensation was received. I typically like to have replacement products on hand so that I am never out of things, but the problem with that is that it takes up a lot of space. Greenwald's All Purpose Citrus Cleaner comes with a re-useable squirt bottle and six water soluble cleaner packets. You can view the video below how you make the cleaner, but it really is super simple. You just add warm water and the cleaner packet and the outside of the cleaner will dissolve as you shave it up. That's it! I now have 5 more "bottles" of cleaner on hand that are not taking up the space of 5 bottles and I am not causing more bottles to be produced or recycles.

Review: Eco-Discoveries Multi-Surface Spray Cleaner

My Thoughts:

I like when I get asked to review cleaning supplies because it forces me to clean my house and clean more of it at one time so that I can test out a product on a variety of surfaces. This time I am reviewing Eco-Discoveries Multi-Surface Spray Cleaner. It arrived in a box with the starter kit which includes the bottle, trigger, and small bottle of concentrate. That small bottle of concentrate is added to the bottle after you have added water to it. I love the idea that they are having us mix it at home with our own water because we don't have to pay increased shipping fees for the added weight of water. Who wants to pay to ship water? I certainly don't.

I tried out the cleaner on the floor, counter and mirror. I was really curious to see how it worked on the mirror (it says it works on glass) because you don't often see that counter cleaners that also claim to clean glass. It worked great! No streaks! Now you only need one cleaner for all your surfaces.

Also worth noting is that there is no scent at all from the cleaner, so this is great for those who do not want added scents or fragrances.

 When I decided to review Chamberlain's Leather Milk Conditioner, this was the project that I had in mind I was going to try it out on. We have had this leather ottoman for about a decade and so it is well worn and stained. Once we had kids there would be drink rings from glasses left on here or markings from a young child learning to color. I really wasn't sure if any product would make a difference on this piece of furniture, but thought I had nothing to lose. You can just see for yourself how it has conditioned and brightened the leather. Sure there are still discolorations from the kids spilling things on here, but I think it already looks so much better.

 I was so impressed with how our ottoman turned out that I immediately wanted to try another leather item, so I went searching through my purses and picked out one of my black leather ones (and realized I have way too many black leather purses as a result of living a couple miles from a Wilson's Leather store). I didn't think the purse looked in too bad of shape until I used the Chamberlain's Leather Milk Conditioner and saw what it could look like and does now. In the before picture you can kind of see some spots were there leather was worn or there were scratches. After applying the milk conditioner and buffing it, I was able to buff out all those spots and have a purse that looks new with just a little work. I was just thinking my current purse (not leather) needed to be swapped out so I am going to see what I can do to bring back life in to my old purses instead of going to buy a new one.

Review: CleanWell Natural Hand Sanitizer Wipes

I only has the chance to try this CleanWell wipe once, but am going to be on the lookout to buy these at a retail outlet, but it looks like I can buy it directly from them as well or from Amazon. Locally, it appears that I should be able to find it at GNC.

I appreciate that these wipes do not use alcohol, are safe for kids, have a light scent (but after reviewing their website it looks like they have a variety of other scents too) and were not tested on animals.

The active ingredient is Thymus Vulgaris Oil, which I have to admit I had never heard of before and am going to have to research a little to learn about it's sanitizing benefits, but there is also other inactive ingredients listed like aloe and lemon oil.

One of the reasons I appreciate it being alcohol free is that varieties with alcohol in it can be irritating to my children's skin who are prone to eczema in the winter, so being alcohol is a huge benefit.

For kids, adults, hands, and faces, CleanWell kills germs naturally and sensitively. And since CleanWell wipes contain no alcohol, they'll only make your hands softer, you'll never smell like the doctor's office, and your sensitive skin won't suffer.

Not that I was thrilled I had something nasty leak from the trash bag into the garbage can and was stinking up the house, but this prevented the perfect opportunity  to try out Trashy.

To use this product you just spray it and then either let it air dry (if your trashcan is clean) or wipe it out after it sits for about 10-15 seconds.

Trashy removes odors from your indoor or outdoor trashcans by dissolving grease, odors and food scraps.

#188 How to Remove Stickers from Window/Wall/Floor

We've had a couple of incidences where my daughter thought it was a good idea to put stickers on the window and on the tile floor. She used the foam stickers and boy, they sure do stick good. I really should be embarrassed to say that she did this almost a year ago and I am just now getting them off.

As you can see, I tried to remove them as much as possible by scraping and pulling and I even used a natural spray (not a homemade kind) to help, but I was left with this mess.

So, as I was thinking about what new type of cleaning project or technique I wanted to try for Earth Week, I thought I would try out a new technique for window cleaning (which will come later this week) and went in search for which was the grimest window to try it out on and saw the stickers and thought I should look for a natural way to remove those without having to resort to Goo Gone.

It was simple enough to do, but because of the foam sticker part I had to do it in a couple steps. I think a paper sticker would be removed much more quickly.

All you do is spray down the area with vinegar. I chose to use my kitchen sink spray that I have lemon essential oil in because that was already made up and I didn't have another spray bottle available to use. My kitchen sink spray is straight vinegar and lemon essential oil (this helps cut the grease) and I use it straight because it helps more efficiently with hard water spots & build-up. But you don't need the essential oil to do this project, just straight vinegar will do the trick.

So, I first saturated the stickers & surrounding area and let it soak for about 8 minutes, then I scraped off the layer of foam pretty easily with a plastic cover I cut in half. I think it would be a more efficient & quicker process if I had used a razor blade. Then I saturated the sticker residue and left that sit for about 8 minutes (Why 8? Because I was getting impatient and wanted to try it out.)
Then I took my plastic lid halves and scraped off the rest of the residue and NO MORE STICKERS! So, I am very pleased with that result and that I did not have to resort to using any type of chemical product.

#143 Homemade Natural Floor Wax

Ok, this one worked really well and was super easy. I made homemade hardwood floor wax for my dining room by mixing 1/4 Cup vinegar with 1/4 olive oil in a dressing mixer. Then I poured it on the floor (throughout the room) and slid across the floor with kitchen towels on my feet. After I was finished I asked my husband what he thought and he said the floor looked wet, like I had just mopped it. Woohoo! Success! The floor looks shiny & waxed. Now, I just need to do this to the rest of the rooms with hardwood floors in my house (which is pretty much the whole house.)

#142 Microwave Cleaning Naturally

Don't you just hate how stuff just sticks on all sides of your microwave? My microwave is up kind of high, so I often don't notice just how dirty it gets and often forget to look inside when I am cleaning the kitchen counters.

So, I decided to give the recipe here a try. I used both vinegar & tea tree oil. I thought I would go all the way with this and use both, rather than water & tea tree oil. I followed the instruction, but I thought more time was needed "cooking" the mixture. I needed to cook mine for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes, everything did wipe out very easily.

Now, I don't think in the future I would use both vinegar & tea tree oil. They both have antibacterial & antiviral properties, so it's a bit of overkill. And they both can have a strong odor, and since my husband doesn't really like the smell of tea tree oil I will just cook vinegar instead.
