I can already tell you, no matter what Punxsutawny Phil does when he pops out of the ground in a few hours, it doesn't much matter to us in Minnesota. Geographically, we are destined to have at least 6+ more weeks of winter (the + being the operative sign here), but it is sure nice to dream that it could shorter. 

Here in Minnesota, a better animal analogy for our winter weather comes in (and departs) March when we compare it to lions and lambs. 

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to make the kids some Grounds Hog Day Pancakes so we could dream a little bit for gardening and outdoor swimming and boating in our future.

When I made these pancakes, I used the Clean Eating Oatmeal Pancakes recipe that I also posted today.

I used 1 large marshmallow on each pancake for the eyes and teeth, and 1/2 of a hard boiled egg (cut in half) for the ears.

Clean Eating Oatmeal Pancakes

Oatmeal Pancakes
6 egg whites
1 C dry old fashioned oats
1 C cottage cheese
1 packet stevia
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Heat each side on an electric griddle at 375 degrees or in a frying pan over medium heat until each side is lightly browned. Makes 10 pancakes. Enjoy!

I am very excited that this holiday season we will be buying Shutterfly Christmas Cards, using the family portraits we had taken during September (which I will hopefully have in my possession within a month). I did get a sneak preview of a few pictures and am happy with what I have seen.

 Here are a couple of the pictures that I received of my
children that I considering using in my holiday cards this year. Of course, that may change when I see all of the pictures.

Although, I like to choose cards that have spaces for multiple pictures. These pictures also serve as my kids portraits for the year (my daughter is 6 1/2 years old and my son is 3 years old) and so it is important that there is space in the card for their individual pictures.

I love that with the Shutterfly website I can have the pictures narrowed down by the amount of pictures I would like to include. I know I want at least 3 pictures (since I like all three I have posted here) but if there is a family photo that includes my husband and myself I would like that in the picture as well. So, I have chosen to look at the cards that have spaces for 4+ pictures.

There are 556 card choices. WOW! I can't imagine not finding at least one that you would like. I think the problem would be to narrow down your choices. When I narrowed it down to 4+ pictures, I still have 259 cards to choose from. I took it one step further and narrowed it down to a folded card and now I have 138 choices. That is still a lot of choices. So after looking at several I realized I am most drawn to the Classic style, which brought my choices down to 64. I have decided to narrow my choices down to 4 and see what my readers think.

#112 Repurposed Fabric Ghosts

My daughter thought we needed more Halloween decorations, so we made nine small ghosts using an old sheet that I would periodically rip rags off of, but still had a lot left. And a small ball of yarn leftover, and some permanent marker. I balled up fabric to make the head and wrapped the square around it and ties it with the leftover white yarn. My daughter cut the yarn and decorated half of the ghosts. Then we hung them on the front porch on small hooks that are there for hanging wind chimes or Christmas lights on.

She is pretty pleased with her porch of Halloween decorations. Right now we have a jack-o-lantern that we grew in our garden, and the window has window clings we received from someone on Freecycle, a spider craft (on the window sill) she made at a class of hers, and now the ghosts.
