FREE Kids Vitamins from Sterling Pharmacy
Did you know all kids under the age of 18 can get free bottles of vitamins monthly at Sterling? We have been using this program for a year now. It ends up saving me over $10 a month on multi-vitamins. Although, I still do buy them Omega vitamins as well.

Review: Gummy Vitamins
My Thoughts
I try to give my children balanced meals throughout the day, but sometimes we are less than balanced or are trying to give us a little more support during cold and flu season. I wanted to give these Nutrabear Vitamin B12 + Multivitamin Gummy Bears a try too see if they help provide my children with a bit more energy to get through their extracurricular activities at the end of the day. I know I like to take a B-complex to help boost my energy on days that need it or if I have an evening workout ahead of me.
These are great gummy vitamins. They are quite chewable and soft, which I like because other gummies we have tried can get hard and stick your teeth, these do not do that. Both the kids and myself enjoy these. The kids like them for the obvious reasons, they are tasty and are cute little bears. I like them because some times regular vitamins can give me an upset stomach if I am trying to supplement before a run but don't want to eat a lot. This vitamin headlines with B12, which is provides 150% DV for children 4+, but it also has 150% DV (for ages 4+) for B6 and Vitamin D, plus also includes 10 other vitamins and minerals besides the 3 I named. I was very interested to see coconut oil and carnauba wax on the ingredient list.

Review: Ultimate Omega Junior & Vitamin C Gummies
We have been working through using these review samples of Nordic Naturals Vitamin C Gummies and Ultimate Omega Junior capsules for a while now, plus all the individual samples you can see that they sent me in the bottle picture.
My kids just loved the Nordic Naturals Vitamin C Gummies. What's not too love about them? They are tasty and in the shape of cute little orange slices. Just 2 of these little slices is a serving and contains 250mg of Vitamin C, which is DV 417%. They contain no artificial coloring, flavoring or preservatives and are 100% vegetarian (no gelatin!) My complaint is that there is only 60 in a bottle and with 2 kids each having 2 a day, we go through the bottle in 15 days. I like to buy enough for a month supply, so I guess I will have to buy 2 bottle at a time.
The other product we reviewed was the Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Junior, which is a fish oil that contains double the strength fish oil in half the size capsule. Honestly, as an adult I prefer a smaller capsule as well and like the size of the Junior capsule like this, but when I compared the nutritional information on both the larger size in the adult capsule does offer twice as much Omega 3s in the form of EPA, DHA and other Omega-3s (which is the same formula in the Junior Capsules). It does say that they capsules are chewable, but my kids did not like the flavor of them at all, but my 8 year old was fine with this as a swallowable capsule. My (almost) 5 year old hasn't really used many swallowable products before and had a little trouble with it.
I need to but more of the Ultimate Omega to see if it helps again with my daughter's eczema. My daughter had never had eczema outside of the winter season, but she did this summer and it was clearing up nicely when she was taking the Ultimate Omega, a probiotic and using hydrocortisone on the affected area. Her eczema has come back in the same spot on the back of her leg and doesn't look good and we are going to try using the Ultimate Omega again with a probiotic, but this time I am going to try using coconut oil on her eczema to see how that helps. The hydrocortisone no longer seems to be affective and I would rather try something more natural and see how that helps her body.

Review: QSpeed CoQ10
I have finished using all of the QSpeed CoQ10 fast melt tablets and have shared all of the samples and brochures they have sent me with friends and have been pleased with the product. I have to admit that before getting my sample to review and the literature to read, I had no idea what CoQ10 was or did , but I was drawn to the packaging that said "Low on Energy" "CoQ10 plays a vital role in your body's natural energy production" and thought it would be good to learn a little more about CoQ10 and try out the product.
Now, while I can honestly say I don't completely understand how or what CoQ10 does, I can share with you what I do understand is that CoQ10 is naturally occurring in nearly every cell in our body and our liver produces much of the CoQ10 our body needs, but a portion needs to come from dietary sources. As we age though, CoQ10 levels can decrease and decreased levels of CoQ10 have also been found in many people with chronic diseases and conditions. You can increase your CoQ10 levels through food or supplementation.
I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, so I am not making any health claims in regards to this product. What I do know is that the fast melt tablets did dissolve in my mouth very quickly and had a pleasing citrus flavor.
DIRECTIONS: As a dietary supplement, take 1-3 tablets daily. If taking in conjunction with exercise, consume 1-2 tablets 20-40 minutes before initial exertion. Place QSpeed® tablets on the top of your tongue and allow it to dissolve while lightly pressing the tongue against the roof of your mouth. The tablet will disintegrate.
I chose to take Qspeed CoQ10 before I would go on any training runs that were 6 miles or longer. I know that for me when my training runs get longer than 6 miles I start to feel low on energy after that 6th mile and since I am in half marathon training mode right now (9 miles to run today!), I can't be low on energy.

GIVEAWAY and Review: Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix
No, I'm not pregnant and trying some creative way of announcing it to the world. The name of the product, Premama Prenatal Vitamin Mix does make you think that you would have to be pregnant to use this product, but really it is a vitamin drink mix that anyone can use that is package in half servings so that you can get your full recommendation of prenatal vitamins (which are usually a lot more than a regular multi-vitamin and are sure to include folic acid) in 2 servings throughout the day. But it really is a vitamin drink that anyone could take but does tailor some of the ingredients towards pregnant or nursing moms but are still things others will find beneficial.
When I was pregnant with my kids, I would take that prescription from the doctor for the prenatal vitamin and attempt to take them only to find that they upset my stomach that was already very sensitive and already dealing with all-day nausea and only led me to have a puking episode within 10 minutes of taking it. I quickly stopped taking those pills (that were the size of horse pills and hard to swallow) and went back to my regular multi-vitamin. I kinda wish this was a product I knew about when I was pregnant because this would have been a much easier way to take my prenatal vitamins.
Some of the vitamins, minerals, herbs in Premama that are designed to help during pregnancy might not necessarily be on a regular multi-vitamin include: Iron (healthy blood cell formation), Vitamin D3 (healthy bone health and Immune function), Folic Acid (reduce risk of neural tube defects), CoQ10 (reduce risk of pre-eclampsia), Ginger Root (nausea relief), plus many other vitamins and minerals.
I remember those days with 20 and 16 weeks of all-day nausea. Yup, it sucked and I would have tried anything, so the idea that my vitamin could have also offered some nausea relief would be welcome.
They recommend taking it with 6 ounces of a cold beverage with vitamin C in it. The vitamin C helps with iron absorption but could be mixed in other cold beverages. I first tried it 100% juice blend that had a day's serving of Vitamin C and as the product claimed it was flavorless when put in a flavored beverage. I did try it in water & ate an orange, but in that I could taste something (I think it was the DHA), so I will have the rest in juice.
Some doctors and organizations recommend that all women ages 15 to 50 take a prenatal vitamin every day since 50% of all pregnancies are unplanned.

GIVEAWAY and Review: Noxicare Womens Once Daily Multi Vitamin
I was excited to be able to review Noxicare Womens Once Daily Multi Vitamin. I had gotten out of the habit of taking supplements, even though I notice immediate benefits when I do take them. I think part of my issue is that I generally need to take them with food right away in the morning, but if my morning starts with 6am Bootcamp class, I don't eat until after class and often end up forgetting.
In order to be able to review this Multi Vitamin, I needed to remember to take them and get myself back in the habit of remembering, plus it helped with one of my nutritional goals which was to rely less on caffeine for energy. I find that if I am able to supplement with vitamins I have the energy I need for the day to be productive without needing caffeine (I do have to say though, I only drink one caffeinated beverage a day, so it's not a huge amount of caffeine in my diet.)
I also found this Multi Vitamin to be helpful to overcoming the afternoon slump, if I forget to take it earlier in the day. I would much rather take a Noxicare Women's Once Daily Multi Vitamin in the afternoon rather than reach for some candy (which does happen, I admit.)
You may remember that I previously did a review of the Noxicare Pain Relief Cream, so this is from the same company.
Noxicare™ Natural Pain Relief is a breakthrough natural, patented pain relief formula that is a proprietary combination of 7 of the world’s most potent natural pain relievers that quickly and effectively alleviate inflammation, muscle aches and nerve pain—with NO known side effects and without a prescription.
