Make It Monday: Homemade Pita Bread (Clean Eating Recipe)
Homemade Pita Bread makes 8 whole pita breads
3 C whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1 T honey
1 pkg (1T) active dry yeast
1 1/4 C warm water
2 T extra virgin olive oil
Pour water in the bottom of your mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and allow to set for 5-10 minutes. Stir in honey and olive oil. Add flour and salt and mix with a dough hook. Mix until dough is well blended. Mix at your lowest speed for 10 minutes. If you do not have a mixer with a dough hook, then take out and knead for 10 minutes
When it is finished kneading (mixing), form it into a ball. Spray a light coating of cooking oil inside a bowl. Place ball of dough inside the bowl, cover with a towel and allow to rise until double (approx. 90 min.) Punch down. Divide the dough in to 8 pieces and roll each in to a ball. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees (put baking stone in the oven if you are using that, while it preheats.) Roll out each ball to 1/4-1/8". Bake as many at a time as your pan/stone allows. Bake for 3 minutes.

Can I just say yummy Im going to make these this weekend I think
This just made it to my weekend plans too!
Just got home with the ingredients! About to start a-mixin'
Thanks for this! Compared and it's only $2 more for the ingredients I needed than buying a pack of 8 readymade. Now I can make 5 times that amount!
I make bread, flatbreads, biscuits and buns all the time, but I haven't tried pita yet. This is the perfect recipe to try!
