We have made a fun night in our house at least once a month, sometimes more than that and do a Family Movie Night. We don't just hang out and watch a movie, but really get in to it and enjoy a variety of snacks. Typically, we pick out a movie we haven't seen on Netflix or Amazon Prime, so it is typically a relatively inexpensive way to spend time together and everyone seems to enjoy it. My Thoughts:
I had the opportunity to review and advance screening of Finding Noah and wanted to share with you what I thought of it. This is a faith based documentary film that is rated for ages 12 and older, which I think is right because the content is more technical than could be taken in by children younger than that, although it is definitely a family friendly movie that you can continue to watch in case your children are around while you are watching it.
While I watched it the more I learned about Mount Ararat and the quest to find Noah's Ark, the more questions I had. I find it fascinating that most of the world has documented stories of a great flood occurring around that same period of time. What is even more fascinating is the analyzing of all these stories and how many similarities occur across the stories from vastly differing cultures.
I learned quite a bit about the dangers that surround mountain exploration and the ongoing political unrest existing in the area, both of which put these scientists, archaeologists and professional mountaineers in physical danger.
It was a very interesting documentary and I had to share information with my husband about what I had learned.

Check with your nearest CEC movie theatres to see if they are also participating in this promotion. This is from the one closest to me. All Day on Tuesdays, EVERYONE only pays $5 to see a movie. And if that isn't reason enough to go, you can also get a free 44oz. popcorn with any drink purchase. What that means is for under $10, I can go see a newly released movie and have popcorn and an Icee. Sounds like a cheap date night or Mom's Night Out idea!
My Thoughts:
Ok, we were already hooked on Veggie Tales in this house. We own several videos and have watched some of the videos available throught our Prime membership. What we weren't hooked on yet was NetFlix. To be honest, my husband has been trying to convince me to try it for YEARS! Many years. And now that Veggie Tales has a new series on NetFlix called Veggie Tales In the House, we decided to try it out and see what this new series is about and what NetFlix has to offer. We're hooked. It's been a week and I found myself wondering we even have cable beyond local channels because NetFlix has everything we need that we don't get from our local channels, including Veggie Tales.
I have watched 3 of the new episodes in this series with my son and as always, their parodies crack me up and I still love how they instill and support already established Christian values in my children. My favorite episode, which totally dates me is about Tom Celreiac (sorry, not sure it is spelled - but you get who the parody is of) joins the Veggies with his infamous mustache which has Bob wanting one too because he thinks it will change his life.

I had the fun privilege of reviewing Delivery Man, which was released to Blu-ray, DVD, Digital and On-Demand today!!!! Have you seen it yet? My husband and I had a date night when it was released to the theater. We had seen a preview of the movie and have always been fans of Vince Vaughn, so we saw it opening weekend. When I was asked if I wanted to review the DVD, I jumped at the chance to be able to own the Blu-Ray and view it in my home.
The role is a fairly typical one for Vince Vaughn, the underachiever role seems to be his type-cast, so he is perfect for the part. The movie really illustrates how a children from the same parent can be so different from each other. Throughout the movie he struggles with deciding if he wants to disclose that he is actually a father and what that means to him, his current relationship and what being a father to so many children mean. The movie does a good job of making you understand how these children must feel about wanting to know more about the other half of their genetic code. It is a feel good movie and one that has you think a little bit about decisions you have made in your past and how they can affect your future.
What I am most excited about it seeing the bonus clips, behind the scenes footage and deleted scenes. Aren't those always the best! You can't see them at the theater and you can only see them on the dvd.

I had the unique opportunity to preview the movie "Mighty Fine" over the internet. What a great way to do a movie preview, although I loved going to previews at the theater when I was in college.
"Mighty Fine" opens in theaters on May 25th. Check this listing to see if it will be playing at a theater near you. If you live in the Twin Cities, it will showing the at the AMC Showplace16 in Coon Rapids, MN.
Joe Fine, played by Chazz Palminteri, the father in this film moves his family from Brooklyn to New Orleans during the 70's in the pursuit of increasing their wealth and living a live with more luxuries than they were previously living with. The story is told by the youngest Fine daughter, Nathalie as she reflects on this period of her childhood and learning the cold lesson that money can't buy happiness and trying to maintain the illusion of money can be even worse and the true reality that dealing with mental health issues is scary and saddening.
This was my first online movie premiere that included live chat with other bloggers viewing it. It was kind of fun to chat with others and "talk" about the movie. This is the only venue in which I could imagine "talking" through the movie is ok. My final thoughts on the movie to the live chat was that I thought they could have stretched the movie out another 10 minutes (to make it a full 1 1/2 hours) and give us some more insight on his mental illness and treatment. The live video chat with one of the actors was pretty neat and helped fill in any gaps that might have been missing in the movie.

We watched this as a family and it is a perfect family movie. There is no questionable content of any kind and it made me feel good about watching it with my young children. My daughter has just become interested in watching family movies with people (rather than animated characters) in them and this was a great choice. She said she liked it and is interested in watching it again and again.
